The longer this franchise goes on and goes through new iterations the better, bolder and more optimistic it gets (and far less whackadoo gross with its female characters). Aliens coming here are a seeming impossibility, so why not find seemingly unlikely hope and kinship in such impossibilities, both feel unlikely when we feel detached from the world and movies show us we can just try and find both in one sense or another in our lives if we want? 4°C once again show they are the biggest nut-havers in the anime industry in terms of doimg something interesting and visually new with all that money and going fully sincere and corny in a way that feels like movies within movies at times, especially the final moment, and … gods do I live for movies just being visually bold, unguarded fluff that try to communicate something simple but achingly human and just sending you back out into the light looking towards another tomorrow with something new in your heart, wanting to see what else is out there.

PS: I know we can’t talk about movies without talking abt what movies seem to be lacking now but…

We need more movies that are destined to become hard 7s on the rating scale for most and just try and do so in a unique way within a 100 minute runtime without a tongue firmly planted in either cheek.
